Beta 88 Web Helpdesk
Distributed RACF administration using a web browser
The Challenge
Everyday occurrences such as an employee moving to another department or leaving the company
give rise to numerous routine tasks for the central administrator: resetting passwords, changing
user names, connecting users to a group, revoking and resuming users. All this takes time, not only
the central administrator's time: users have to wait while all the necessary formalities go between
one department and another. Delegating these tasks is a good solution; the problem is, at
department level there's often a lack of understanding of RACF and host-based user interfaces.
Our Solution
Not only does Beta 88 Web Helpdesk enable you to delegate these administration tasks
at department level (after all, this is where the knowledge of specific security requirements
resides), it also provides a standard web interface that enables group administrators with
little knowledge of RACF to do their jobs quickly and effectively.
Benefits
- RACF administration using a standard web interface – with just a few clicks needed to generate and execute the necessary RACF commands.
- As helpdesk users, group administrators can make the necessary changes without any loss of time.
- Group administrators know the staff in their area of responsibility personally, which ensures a higher degree of security.
- Only the functions needed by the helpdesk user are displayed.
- Enhanced security thanks to the optional four-eyes principle for password resets.
