Anniversary of leading midsized provider of software for processing large data
volumes

Berlin, Germany. July 17, 2008 – On September 25, 2008, Beta Systems Software AG
is commemorating its 25-year anniversary in Berlin. Against the backdrop of the theme ‘Innovate and
Celebrate’, the birthday festivities of the software company will take place at Berlin’s Estrel
Convention Center. The highlight of the event is a two-hour ceremony in the afternoon. The guest
list, with more than 600 guests from 30 countries, includes customers, partners, and staff as well
as personalities from the worlds of business, science and politics. The afternoon ceremony will
begin with a welcome speech by the company’s co-founder, William P. Schmidt, and its CEO, Kamyar
Niroumand. This will be followed by presentations and interviews with business experts and
longstanding customers. The event, which concludes with a get-together party, will be hosted by the
German TV presenter Gaby Papenburg.
In the morning, the birthday kicks off with customer meetings in the Innovation Forum. The
Forum features workshops and presentations on the topics of Data Centers, Security and Compliance,
and Enterprise Content Management. Beta Systems will use the prestigious event as an opportunity to
discuss the latest IT developments with its customers, partners and other interested parties.

25 Years of High Tech and Innovation
“Our founders built up the company based on the principles of innovation and

Prominent Guest Speakers at Ceremony
The afternoon will feature an high level speaker from the scientific field,
Professor Dr. Frank Leymann, Managing Director of the Institute for the Architecture of Application
Systems (IAAS) in Stuttgart. Together with Professor Dr. Hansjoerg Fromm, Partner at IBM Global
Business Services and Director of the IBM Center for Business Optimization, Prof. Leymann will host
an entertaining debate on the evolution of the IT and software industry in the past, present and
future. The debate will be followed by presentations from key customers in the financial services
sector about their work with Beta Systems’ solutions. Some of these companies have been working
with Beta Systems for many years.
Information Platform for Current and Future Customers
With multiple presentations and workshops on the themes of “Optimizing Incoming Mail and
Back-Office Processes” and “Data Centers and Security Management”, Beta Systems is providing the
basis for a range of stimulating discussions. The company will present incoming mail and related
back-office solutions for banks and insurance companies, as well as a look at the effects on large
enterprises of SEPA (the Single Euro Payments Area). In addition, workshops will be available on
topics like effective user identity management; software-as-a-service (SaaS) in the data center;
and the compliance-related demands on IT infrastructures. Various user group meetings and workshops
with partners and customers are also being scheduled around the event.
