CORPORATE NEWS RELEASE

  • Significant increase in EBIT to € 5.8 million

  • High-margin software license and services business grows by around 6.9% and 14.9% respectively

  • Positive outlook for fiscal 2008 affirmed

  • Beta Systems celebrates “25 Years of High Tech and Innovation“

Berlin, March 20, 2008 – Beta Systems Software AG (BSS, ISIN DE0005224406) has achieved an EBIT of € 5.8 million (2006: €-15.6 million) which is the best operating result since its IPO. The Berlin-based software supplier has thus clearly exceeded breakeven after the high losses in previous years.

In 2007, revenue from the software licenses and services business climbed 6.9% to € 29.0 million (2006: € 27.1 million) and 14.9% to € 14.5 million (2006: € 12.6 million) respectively. Total revenues fell to € 88.6 million (2006: € 96.6 million) owing to the scheduled downsizing of the hardware business. Adjusted for the hardware effect, revenues advanced 0.8% in a year-on-year comparison. The reasons for the good result were the company’s concentration on the high-margin software license and services business, an optimized cost structure and the consistent implementation of measures to enhance sales operations.

Solution Provider with 25 Years’ Experience
Beta Systems is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year under the slogan “25 Years of High Tech and Innovation”. The Berlin-based software supplier can look back on 25 eventful and innovative years. Kamyar Niroumand, CEO of Beta Systems Software AG, described his company’s key to success: “For a software house to maintain its position in the market for a quarter of a century is no mean feat. The recipe for success of our founders was innovation and quality. This hasn’t changed in 25 years, and we continue to consistently tailor our product strategy to the IT requirements of our customers. That’s the secret.”

Outlook for Fiscal 2008
With order books remaining healthy and a slight growth in revenues, the Management Board expects an EBIT margin in the upper single-digit range and a double-digit EBITDA margin in fiscal 2008. The prerequisite for this is profitability in all three business segments. Beta Systems anticipates that it will achieve sustained profit growth through concentration on its software license and services business, expanding customer relationships, above all in the financial services sector and industry at large, building up its global partner business and through the consistent implementation of its Beta 4Agility product and sales strategy.
