  • Support of the PDF/A archive format

  • Processing of log and process information to meet compliance regulations and for data center administration

Berlin, 10 March 2008 – Beta Systems Software AG has introduced new features to its Beta UX infrastructure software. For example, Beta UX for highly efficient document processing in data centers now also supports the universal and ISO-compliant PDF/A archive format and treats it just like any other common print data stream (PCL, PostScript, AFP). The system can also manage the history of data center processes by processing log and workflow information from various platforms and applications. Log information from diverse sources such as scheduler and operating systems or database applications is centrally processed and archived, making it transparent and auditable over a long period of time.

Support of the PDF/A Archive Format
The next release of Beta UX supports PDF/A as a full-fledged input data format. Beta UX can capture and index document contents and use this information for further document processing. This means that, regardless of the source system capabilities, PDF/A documents can be split up on the content level, archived in auditable format, bundled with other documents and distributed via a broad range of output channels.

Beta Systems Software AG is a member of the PDF/A Competence Center, an association comprising globally leading companies and experts in the area of PDF technology. Beta Systems will participate in the international PDF/A conference taking place on 10 and 11 April 2008 in Amsterdam as an exhibitor. For more information, visit: http://www.pdfa.org/

History Management
Beta UX enables central processing and archiving of process logs generated throughout an organization. Beta UX is able to recognize events from the log information and process them accordingly. This makes it possible to capture data center processes on a content level and forward them to designated system specialists for the purpose of data center administration. As an additional benefit, this enables IT auditors to check whether the workflows comply with legal regulations by analyzing the process information.

Benefits of History Management with Beta UX at a Glance:

  • Job chain analysis across all platforms and applications using a central repository

  • Consolidation of the corresponding job chain information to gain an understanding of the process chains in the IT landscape

  • Transparent IT processes thanks to company-wide capture and auditable archiving of processes

  • Instant response to content-related log file events facilitates quick awareness and initiation of measures in the case of IT problems
