  • Service Oriented Architecture Approach Drives Business Agility and Flexibility

Berlin, Germany. June 20, 2007 – Beta Systems Software AG, a leading supplier of infrastructure software for enterprise-critical applications for the automation and protection of business processes, today announced its acceptance to the IBM SOA Specialty after successfully completing IBM's rigorous SOA technical and business requirements.  With this achievement the Beta Systems' Web Enabler APPLICATION™ integrates with the IBM software and strategy for SOA.

"SOA is an increasingly important business requirement for organizations because of the business flexibility it enables," said Sandy Carter, vice president, SOA and WebSphere, IBM Software Group. "Beta Systems' commitment to SOA provides their customers with a powerful way to reduce integration costs while rapidly deploying operational applications."

Beta Systems' Web Enabler application is designed to bring critical information to thousands of users at the lowest possible total cost of ownership (TCO). Compliance with SOA standards enables Beta Systems' Web Enabler application appliance to immediately link to all SOA-compliant data sources and applications, and allows Beta Systems technology to be easily integrated with third-party portals and process management applications.

Beta Systems' Web Enabler APPLICATION appliance uses SOA-based web services to capture transactions from key operational systems, and utilizes XML and WSDL standards to process data and metadata definitions.  Beta Systems APPLICATION is also capable of initiating workflows and processes via web-service calls.

"Support for SOA is critical to reducing the cost and time to deployment for operational Business Process applications, as they need to integrate disparate data and interoperate with other applications," said Kamyar Niroumand, chief executive officer of Beta Systems. "SOA compliance also enables Beta Systems to provide a best-of-breed offering to our partners such as IBM, who can take our dashboard portlets and embed them in portals and process management tools."
