AD HOC ANNOUNCEMENT PURS. TO SEC. 15 WpHG
- Solid operating performance in Q4 2006 and positive outlook for 2007
Berlin, February 27, 2007 – Based on an assessment of its Q4 2006 performance figures, the Management Board of Beta Systems Software AG (BSS, ISIN DE0005224406) has formed the opinion that the positive trend in third-quarter operating performance is likely to have continued into the fourth quarter 2006. This opinion is subject to an audit of the annual accounts. Supported by higher revenues within the area of software licenses and the considerable streamlining of cost structures, the Company was able to achieve a significant improvement in earnings in the second half of 2006.
Financial Highlights Q4 2006
- Total revenue decreases to approx. € 29 million (Q4 2005: € 30.7 million)
- Positive trend continues: revenue growth of approx. 4% from software licenses
- Comparable (adjusted) operating result propelled to approx. € 3.6 million (Q4 2005: € 3.3 million)
Preliminary Financial Highlights for Fiscal 2006
- Revenue increased by about 1% to approx. € 97 million (FY 2005: € 95.6 million)
- Comparable (adjusted) operating result improves, reaching approx. € -2.9 million
(FY 2005: € -4.2 million)
- Significant preliminary pre-tax loss for the year of approx € 16,7 million (FY 2005: pre-tax loss of € 5.1 million), as anticipated, due to exceptional charges (approx. € 13 million in 2006)
Outlook for Fiscal 2007
As a result of sales-related measures implemented within the framework of the Company's refocusing of corporate strategy, the Management Board expects a slight growth in revenue in 2007, driven by a low single-digit growth rate. This goes along with a significant increase of the software license and service business and a further reduction of hardware sales at the same time. With cost structures having been optimized to a degree that is considered sustainable in the long term, the Management Board is currently looking to exceed and remain above break-even over the course of the fiscal year; the Company's EBIT margin for fiscal 2007 is expected to be in the mid single-digit range.
