Press Release
- Beta Systems becomes official sponsor of German Basketball League Team
Berlin, Germany, 14 December 2006 –Beta Systems Software AG has become an official sponsor of the Brose Baskets, a Bamberg-based basketball team that plays in the German premier league. The IT company is backing the squad coached by Dirk Bauermann, who is also the trainer of the German national men’s basketball team, for the next two seasons until 2008.
The cooperation unites two partners who both play in the top league in their respective fields and have demonstrated great success based on their talent, team spirit and determination on a national and international level. With this sponsorship agreement, Beta Systems underlines its commitment to sport, a subject that CEO Kamyar Niroumand has a particular personal interest in. Beta Systems is a provider of software products and solutions for securely and efficiently processing large volumes of data. Among its customers are 18 out of 30 DAX-listed enterprises and 50 percent of all companies listed on EUROSTOXX. These firms use Beta Systems’ software solutions to make their IT more secure and more efficient.
“With its key focus on trust, performance, teamwork, and individual motivation, our corporate culture takes its inspiration from sport to a large extent,” said Kamyar Niroumand, CEO of Beta Systems Software AG. “We’re delighted to be sponsoring such a successful and high-performance team who also do a lot for youth development and invest in their trainees. At Beta Systems, we also pay particular attention to trainee development and see it as a decisive factor contributing to the future success of any team – whether in a business or a sport context.”
As part of the sponsorship agreement, the Brose Baskets will heavily feature in Beta Systems’ marketing communications- both print and online media - and will make public appearances at customer and staff events. A major role will be played by trainer Dirk Bauermann, whose success has made him very much in demand as one of Germany’s top basketball personalities.
“Just like Beta Systems, we’ve set ourselves ambitious targets for the next two years,” said Dirk Bauermann, Brose Baskets’ trainer. “We’re very happy to have won a sponsor like Beta Systems who places as much importance as we do on commitment, great performance, energy and the ability to work as a team, and who will help us to shape our future from both a sporting and a financial perspective.”
The Trainer
Dirk Bauermann’s approach to the game became clear last summer, in his role as trainer of the
German national basketball team. The team shone with its tough defense and strength in attack. As a
result, Dirk Bauermann has got off to a great start as trainer of the national team by qualifying
for the European championships. At the 2005 European championship in Serbia-Montenegro, Germany
came a surprise second and only saw their ambition thwarted by Greece in the final. This success
led to the German team automatically qualifying for the 2006 world championships in Japan, where
they came 8th.
The Team
The long-established team from Bamberg changed its name to Brose Baskets in summer 2006 and
boasts a broad array of sporting successes, including being national cup champions in 1992,
vice-champions in 2003 and 2004, and winning the German league championship in 2005. In European
competitions, the Brose Baskets also hold an excellent track record with victories against top
teams like AEK Athens and Italy’s Benetton Treviso. In the current season the team will start again
playing for the coveted ULEB Cup (Coupe de l'Union des Ligues Européennes de Basketball), one of
Europe’s most important basketball competitions.
