- New Web Service interface enables quicker access to systems and simpler document editing
Berlin, Germany. 9 October 2006 – Beta Systems Software AG (Prime Standard: BSS on the German stock exchange), a provider of solutions for Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and mass data management (Data Center Infrastructure, DCI), today announced a new version of the Beta Web Enabler featuring a web service interface. The Beta Web Enabler serves as an integration layer for end users requiring access to a variety of server systems for their everyday work. Alongside Beta Systems' existing, ergonomically-designed web GUI (graphical user interface), the Beta Web Enabler now provides a GUI-free interface, which enables end users to easily manage and edit listing documents such as form letters or circulars.
The new GUI-free interface uses text-based communication to connect users or applications to the Beta Web Enabler or to server systems. The interface quickly, easily and cost-effectively integrates information from server systems into customer and corporate portals. Other corporate applications can also be accessed via the interface.
The new version of the Beta Web Enabler now ensures that the connection to the web service interface is simpler, faster, and more cost-effective. Specialized applications from environments including z/OS sit behind the server systems and provide users with the wide range of information they need for their work, without them having to worry about the technical details of the applications and how they work. The information - available in a variety of formats - is sourced from document distribution and management systems as well as from output management systems supplying time-critical and confidential data in a targeted, secure and efficient way. In order to make this procedure transparent, the connection between the browser-based client-server application and the relevant systems is established using individual connector components.
