Beta Systems announces preliminary results for FY 2005
- Beta Systems closes FY 2005 with higher sales and earnings
Berlin, February 9, 2006 – Based on an assessment of its Q4 2005 performance figures, the Management Board of Beta Systems Software AG (BSS, ISIN DE0005224406) is of the opinion that revenue from continuing operations under IFRS amounted to approx. Euro 95.6 million in the 2005 financial year (FY 2004: Euro 90.0 million). This opinion is subject to the examination by the Company's auditors. Preliminary net profit for the period was approx. Euro 1.0 million (FY 2004: Euro 0.1million). This figure includes an extraordinary gain of Euro 5.8 million on disposal of one of the Company's business units, as announced on a previous occasion, and exceptional charges of Euro 5.5 million attributable to integration, restructuring and cost-reduction measures.
As part of the planning processes for the year 2006, the Management Board, together with the heads of the respective business lines, has identified further significant potential for cost reduction that can be realized irrespective of the planned increase in revenue. The new corporate structure is conducive to streamlined processes, accelerated workflow and improved organizational configurations. As part of efforts to realize this potential, the 2006 financial year is once again expected to produce exceptional expenses similar in scope to those recorded in the 2005 financial year; these expense items have been accounted for in the Company's plans. The Supervisory Board has approved the above-mentioned corporate plans and has assured the Management Board of its full support in implementation.
Beyond this information, the Management Board has indicated that it shall be making no FY 2006 forecasts at this moment in time. Management will report in a timely manner about the success, progress as well as revenue and earnings effects achieved on the basis of restructuring.
